Prior to the centenary of Armenian cinema, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National Cinema Center of Armenia and the Henrik Igityan National Centre for Aesthetics.
Within the framework of cooperation, the National Cinema Center of Armenia joint with the Henrik Igityan National Centre for Aesthetics initiated a poster competition for animated films (cartoons) with the support of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
The competition is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Armenian animation and is carried out within the framework of the jubilee year events. The competition is intended for children and teenagers of Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora. It aims to introduce the rich heritage of Armenian animation to children, enhance their artistic taste and familiarize them with the traditions, techniques and innovative approaches of poster creation. About 80 films have been selected, with special emphasis on our "Golden Fund" created in the years of 1900-2000. As part of the project, the children will participate in online master classes, which will be conducted by the best experts in the field and will transfer theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in animation, posters and graphic design. One of the main focuses of the project is to introduce the children to the nature and art of poster creation so that they could apply the acquired knowledge in the new format. With the acquired theoretical and practical knowledge, the children will then choose an animation film and create a poster based on it. In the process, they will also have the opportunity to get expert advice. Most animated films do not have posters, and this project is a great opportunity to reconsider our rich heritage.
The best works will be presented at the final exhibition, which will open at the gallery of the National Centre for Aesthetics in 2023.
